• Where will my session take place?
Your session will take place in a warm, quiet, comfortable room with soft music playing to help you relax.
• What training has my massage therapist completed?
Your therapist has a Bachelor degree in Sports Medicine and is nationally certified and licensed as an athletic trainer and has completed a 600 hour program at an approved massage therapy school. She has earned both national and state (WI) certifications for massage. The therapist has trained and specializes in Myofascial Release, but will use a variety of techniques in order to meet your session goals.
• Will I be completely undressed during my session?
During our sessions you will be partially clothed and under a sheet. Most women will wear a bra and underwear or baggy shorts. Most men will wear underwear or baggy shorts.
• Will I be covered during the session?
You will be draped with sheets and blankets during the session. Only the area being worked on will be undraped in order to ensure the safety and privacy of the client.
• Will any lubricant be used during the session?
Typically oil and cream will not be used during the session. This allows me to have better contact with the skin.
• Will all parts of my body be worked on during the session?
Your therapist will discuss with you the desired treatment that will be essential for meeting your goals. This will determine what body parts require treatment. .
• What will I feel during my session?
A wide range of sensations can be felt during a session. The most common are a sense of relaxation and decreased muscular tension. Always communicate any sensations to the therapist immediately because we want your session to be relaxing and enjoyable.
• How long will the session last?
Session lengths last anywhere from 60 – 90 minutes dependent upon your session goals. Additional time may be required to fill out paperwork and/or discuss a specific treatment plan or instruction in a home exercise program.
• What should I do during the session?
It is important for you to be completely relaxed during your session. Many people close their eyes and imagine their bodies softening on the table in order to completely relax. Please feel free to ask questions during your session.
• How do you typically feel after a session?
Following your session you will typically feel very relaxed. After this experience many people have increased energy, heightened awareness and greater productivity – which can last for days. Since toxins are released from your soft tissues during the session, it is important that you drink plenty of water for 24-48 hours following your session. Once getting dressed, it is important to let the therapist know if you are having any unusual symptoms (i.e., headache, nausea, light headedness). These symptoms can be corrected with basic seated techniques.
• Are there any medical conditions that would make treatment inadvisable?
Yes, that’s why it is imperative that before you begin your session, the therapist ask general health questions. It is vital that you inform the therapist of any health problems or medications that you are currently taking. If you are under a doctor’s care, it is strongly advised that you receive a written recommendation for treatment prior to any session. The therapist may require a recommendation or approval from your doctor.
